Meeting our Nephew

Avett James Bollwahn

Our nephew, the first born grandchild for my parents, was born to Jenny Wiedmeyer and Aaron Bollwahn on April 29, 2014.  My sister Jennifer delivered the healthiest (and hairy) baby boy after several hours of labor with zero medication!  It was absolute torture for me to be so far away and unable to join the family in the maternity suite to meet our sweet nephew moments after he was born.  Luckily, I knew Jenny and Avett were in very good hands, surrounded by so much love and family, so that of course helped to make things easier for my-lonesome-self.  Heath and I just had to wait 2 weeks until we could finally head home to meet him (we didn't want to book flights too early in case he decided to come late, which of course he did!).  We also had to fit our anniversary trip in there days after he was born.

Uncle Heath meets Avett for the first time.  First time I've seen Heath not only hold a brand new baby but look very comfortable doing so!
Heath and I got to join Avett on his first walk at the Lake Michigan lakefront on a brisk, dreary morning.  Avett enjoyed his first outdoor diaper change, his first visit to the outdoor musical instrument arena where his father and uncle performed for him and then off to his first outing to a restaurant.

Mama got to enjoy her first libation, a much missed Bloody Mary from the Comet Cafe

I can't wait to be a part of teaching him about America's favorite pastime

Grandma, Grandpa, Aunts Lissa, Laura & Kathryn, Uncle Heath & Woody let the new parents have a night to themselves with baby Avett. We spent the night at Miller Park where the Brewer's hosted the New York Yankees

Eventually, Aunt Lissa and Uncle Heath sadly had to say goodbye to this sweet little man.  We enjoyed every moment spent with him.  He was really such a good baby which I attribute to Jenny and Aaron's naturally calm nature.  They both proved to be confident parents during our visit with baby Avett.
